Ancient wood seems scattered about
by nature in Petrified Forest National Park. Crystals and varied
colors are seen in the metamorphized wood. A
great view of the badlands in northeast Arizona is obtained by
a visit to this park. One vista is along the Blue Mesa Road.
Pilot Rock, the highest point in this park,
can be hiked in a 16 mile round trip. It lies here in the Painted
Desert. Photos taken February 27, 2002 by Petesthousandpeaks.
