The two mile hike to the Calcite
Mine is more scenic than many might imagine. There are balanced
rocks, wind caves, and other spectacular erosional features. The
hike is all made on a dirt road, with only one way to go. It begins
off S-22, the Salton Sea Highway, several miles east of the town
