Harwood Lodge is maintained by
the Angeles Chapter, Sierra Club. It provides inexpensive bunk
beds and other various facilites from which to enjoy a more comfortable
base for hiking in the Mt. Baldy area of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Usually, it is open on weekends, and for my 1998 visit, all of
Christmas week. While I stayed there, a major winter storm arrived
to the Pacific West, and a light, beautiful snowfall graced the
forests about the area. Photos taken about and just after December
