A must-do is a trip to the top
of the Stratosphere Tower. A $6 ticket (back in January, 1999)
enables one to take a ride up the super fast elevator. The view
is higher than from the Seattle Space Needle! Some airy rides,
over a thousand feet up, allow for a thrill that should certainly
be taken by most while here. Being a mountaineer, I have already
experienced bigger thrills, so naturally disdain, with my low
income anyway, such civilized attractions. A
changing view from the tower was carried by a Live Cam, at one
time perhaps, on a Las Vegas TV station web site. Several DPS
peaks are seen from the top, including the escarpment in Red Rock
Canyon NCA. Plan for a sunny winter visit, as the air will be
much clearer. Photos taken January 2, 1999, by Petesthousandpeaks.
