EMERALD PEAK (12,546') August 5-8, 1990

Driving solo to meet an SPS group, I came to Florence Lake to ride the ferry. We had a nice backpack up to the John Muir Trail, and to camp about Evolution Valley.

The next day, we were led up the class 2 route to the top of Emerald Peak, I captured the views, with a look at the register, and we had a nice summit stay. We scrambled back down, and I got separated for a bit due to a choice of route. A storm came in, and we got heavy lightning. It was flash boom for awhile, close by strikes.

Backpacking out, I took the ferry over the lake, and thus came to a quiet end another peak climb.
