COSUMNES RIVER PRESERVE November 25, 2010

Game for something on this fine holiday, I gobbled up some turkey with trimmings at the local buffet, and then decided to go for a short hike. I saw that the usual spots that I went on the Parkway were now fee areas for cars. I knew that the avian fowl would be streaming in, and the salmon run was to begin.

Doing some grocery shopping, I then headed south on Interstate 5. Taking the Twin Cities Road exit, I went left to the nature preserve along the Cosumnes River. I parked at the wildlife viewing area, and walked on the boardwalk to see some birds. Mostly ducks fed and played on the wetlands, and I took some movie clips (720p HD, 1:19, high quality 360 MB or 34.4 MB). Going to the end of the planks, I then headed for the visitor center. I took another short walk over the slough bridge, and captured some sights of the fall colors and other birds.

Only spending some two hours here, I shortly left and headed on home. I had hiked maybe a mile, and captured some 68 images. There are no fees here, though I did donate a dollar. Using maybe a gallon of fuel, my motoring totaled about 40 miles. I had shelled out for my groceries, and took slight wear on my boots.
