The town of Ouray, CO, in an area known as the "Switzerland of the Americas," was a welcome sight after crossing high snowy passes, motoring north on U.S. 550. Ice Waterfalls are seen from the Box Canyon Road just south of town. There is even a viewing platform for sight-seers. One motel offers a "20% discount for ice climbers." No one was climbing while I was there. Photos taken February 28, 2002 by Petesthousandpeaks.
